In a usual morning conference, Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded to those who spoke out against the Mayan Train.
Along with the newly opened Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), the Mayan Train is one of the largest projects of the current administration.
The campaign against the Mayan Train launched yesterday reached the morning conference of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and the president did not hesitate to comment on it.
Yesterday afternoon, through the official Facebook page of Sélvame del Tren, a video was shared in which various personalities from the artistic world appear, such as Eugenio Derbez, Kate del Castillo, Omar Chaparro, Bárbara Mori, Rubén Albarrán (Café Tacvba), Natalia Lafourcade, Saúl Hernández (Caifanes) and Ana Claudia Talancóna recording that corresponds to the #SélvameDelTren campaign, which aims to call on the authorities to stop the construction of the Mayan Train.
It is known, since the beginning of the current administration, that the Mayan Train is, along with the newly opened Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), one of the largest projects of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and its administration.
However, since it began to be built, the Mayan Train has been severely criticized by both specialists and members of the community itself, warning of the damage to the ecology of the region that is being generated by the AMLO government project.
That is why, yesterday afternoon, a video was released in which various voices from the artistic world made a call to the authorities, because “The Mayan train is destroying the jungle, our natural heritage”, just as the recording begins with the actor Eugenio Derbezand then other personalities join the conversation.
Campaign against the Mayan Train arrives in the morning of AMLO
Today, in his morning conference at the National Palace, the #SélvameDelTren campaign was exhibited by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obradorwho did not hesitate to comment on the matter, calling each of the personalities “pseudo-environmentalists, conservatives and fifis”.
“When these artists, pseudo-environmentalists, spoke out for the destruction that was going to be carried out on Lake Texcoco, when? We are talking about the lake with the most history, which is the origin of Mexico, Tenochtitlán, never, nothing, when did they say something during the neoliberal period that the governments handed over 60% of the territory for mining exploitation, 120 million hectares? the president in his morning conference.
Similarly, the head of the Federal Executive “invited” those who spoke out against the Mayan Train to visit Puerto Aventura, Xcaret, “There is Calica, an American company that had permission to extract construction materials 500-thousand meters from the Caribbean Sea. They were given permission at the time when Mrs. Julia Carabias was Secretary of the Environment, for the exploitation and that material was taken to the United States, and now it turns out that they are tearing their clothes “mentioned the President.
This is not the first time that the president has spoken out against those who question several of his decisions, but the fact that he is the President of the country speaks of a range of power that, ultimately, echoes in society in general. .
For this reason it is that, the words expressed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador will have a much greater resonanceespecially among those who support the president, which is why any campaign that questions the projects headed by the current administration will have the same judgment from both the president and those who follow him on social networks.
