Prices at AMC theaters in the United States are about to change. It was announced that, now, the price of the tickets will be charged depending on the seat that is chosen to enjoy each function.
In accordance with Varietythe adjustment, known by the name of sightlines, it is similar to what is done for concerts, sporting events and plays: if you want to have a better place, in which you can see what is happening on the screen well, you will have to agree with the idea of paying extra . This new modality will come into force next Friday, February 10, in complexes in New York, Chicago and Kansas. It will roll out nationwide by the end of the year.
These will be the new prices of AMC theaters
Seats in the front are expected to cost less, and those in the middle and back are expected to cost more. A map will also be implemented that can be consulted online and through the AMC app. There will be three different options to choose the places, which are the following:
- Standard Sightlines: “Seats that are the most common in auditoriums and are available for the traditional cost of a ticket”.
- Sightline Value: «Seats in the first row of the auditorium, as well as American Disabilities Act (ADA) seats – spaces for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs – selected in each auditorium, available at a lower price than standard seats. It is important to clarify that the modality will only apply to functions after 4:00 p.m. in participating cinemas. Also, it will not be available during discount Thursdays.
Eliot Hamlisch, the network’s executive vice president, had this to say:
“Sightline on AMC more closely aligns AMC’s seat pricing approach with that of many other entertainment venues, offering experience-based pricing and another way for moviegoers to find value in theaters. While all AMC seats offer an incredible movie experience, we know that there are viewers who prioritize their seats and others who prioritize the value of the theater. Sightline at AMC accommodates both sentiments to help ensure our customers have greater control over their experience, so that every trip to an AMC is a great trip.”
