Health has become a priority for the world’s leading technology companies. It is an area that is becoming more and more interesting because it is a powerful business. Among the most interested is Amazon and today unveiled RxPass, a new prepaid subscription to purchase medications.
The company founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 it is one of the pioneers in electronic commerce. At first, she only focused on books, but today she allows her to purchase any type of product and receive it directly at home.
For its part, throughout the pandemic it has been one of the fastest growing companies in the world. According to the Ranking of the companies with the highest brand value worldwide in 2022 report published by Statista, Amazon occupies the second position. The only one on top is Apple, although the difference between the two is minimal.
In this sense, through a newsletter details were released today RxPass. It is a new prepaid subscription to purchase medicines. According to what was disclosed in this first stage it will only be available in the United States.
How does it work?
This program is exclusive for users who have the Prime membership. They are the people who have access to the multimedia platform with the company’s series and movies and can also buy products without shipping costs. If they now pay an additional five dollars a month then they will be able to receive the benefits of this new project.
The biggest incentive is that they can choose within a catalog of just over 40 generic drugs that work against the most common diseases. They can freely select the ones they want and they will also receive them directly at their home without extra charges.
“Prime members already get fast, free delivery on prescription drugs, and RxPass is one more way to save with Amazon Pharmacy. Any customer who pays more than $10 a month for their eligible drugs will see their prescription costs cut by 50% or more, plus they save time by avoiding a trip to the pharmacy,” said John Love, Vice President of Amazon pharmacy.
To apply for this program, Prime members must visit the main Amazon portal. There they must create or update their profile Amazon Pharmacy. Once there, customers will be guided through a simple registration process that verifies their eligibility and prescription information.
For their part, for any questions during the enrollment process or after a prescription arrives, Amazon pharmacists are available 24/7 to coordinate with a customer’s doctor or help with refills.
Amazon’s other commitment to health
For now, this new program joins the Amazon Clinic, which was just announced at the end of 2022. Broadly speaking, it is an initiative that it replaces the general consultations of first contact in person so that they are now carried out virtually.
When a patient requests the service, they must answer a questionnaire to find out their symptoms. Upon completion of this stage, the device’s camera is used to link the person with a doctor and start the virtual consultation.
The rest of the service would be the same as the way medical consultations are carried out online today. While at the end the doctor not only offers a diagnosis but also the prescription is issued through Amazon Pharmacy so that patients can receive the drugs directly at home.
