AMAPRO against mobbing / By María Teresa Espinoza
Safe Space is a collaboration of AMAPRO and Dialogus to eradicate bullying.
The work environment has become an important issue in the world, especially for organizations that are beginning to take initiatives to curb various problems such as mobbing or better known as harassment.
According to data from the National Occupation and Employment Survey (ENOE) organized by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), conflicts within the workplace are currently the main reason for resignation, and estimates that around 60,873 people left their jobs in 2022 due to conflicts with superiors, and 25,000 people quit their jobs during the first quarter of 2022 for reasons of harassment or discrimination.
Given these alarming figures and this panorama, the Mexican Association of Promotion Agencies (AMAPRO) created Espacio Seguro, an initiative whose purpose is to eradicate sexual harassment and workplace harassment behaviors.
This is defined as a comprehensive program for the detection, reporting and monitoring of cases of sexual harassment and workplace harassment that contributes to compliance with NOM-035 (Psychosocial risk factors at work- Identification, analysis and prevention).
As mentioned by the association, this is an initiative that is supported by the external consultant Dialogus, which receives the complaint and intervenes directly within the agency, who is in charge of analyzing and assigning a certified investigator defined by the association, who intervenes with the Care Committee made up of agency staff and management staff.
In this sense, according to Franco Scipioni, president of AMAPRO, bullying and harassment are very recurrent in all industries.
“The marketing and promotions industry is susceptible to these problems due to the large number of people who work in it, also because of its competitive nature: an aide-de-camp may be attacked by the client they hire or by users of a point of sale ”, he adds.
This initiative is added to the one already established by other brands to deal with harassment, such as the Rappi platform, which developed a new button so that the app’s distributors can report cases of street harassment in real time during their day to day . And this is how companies globally are taking their time to carry out strategies to support society with issues that affect a large part of them. no
