We are almost in the middle of August and there is very little left for the iPhone 13 official release. So far we have some leaked date on its presentation and characteristics.
Within the multiple news that we hope to see In the new iPhone 13, one of the most important is related to a component that we use almost daily: the camera. Today we are going to see all the possible news that the iPhone 13 would have.
1. We can use the Portrait Mode when we make a video
The latest rumors indicate that Apple will add this option to iPhone 13, which will allow us to use this effect that we have enjoyed so far in the photos.
Recall that Portrait Mode was first introduced on Apple devices with the iPhone 7 Plus in 2016 after a software update and since then it is one of the cfeatures you like the most to users.
While it is true that Apple has improved Portrait Mode year by year, many users and professional photographers were clamoring for it to will be included in the taking of videos.
During the presentation of iOS 15 Apple gave us a hint about this new function including the Portrait mode for FaceTime calls.
We are still not clear if this will be a function that we can enjoy with iOS 15, will be exclusive for the iPhone 13 or even only those who have an iPhone 13 Pro can have it.
2. ProRes video
It seems that Apple is going to bet heavily on enhance video features with their smartphone. This rumor is based on the introduction of Dolby Vision HDR recording last year on the iPhone 12. Apple might improve even more video for professionals with ultra-high-quality ProRes.
For those who don’t know, ProRes is mostly used by professional video editors, which gives them the opportunity to have much more control of the video during post-production.
But these types of videos have a disadvantage: incredibly heavy files, where a minute of video can occupy 9.5 Gb, so if Apple does not increase the capacity of its phones, many videos could not be recorded in this format.
3. Smart filters
The cameras of the new iPhone 13 are expected to apply more accurate filters for objects and people in photos, rather than applying them generically to all photos like they do now.
The latest information suggests that users could choose between filters with warmer and cooler temperatures, deeper shadows and with more contrast with a much more balanced style.
4. LiDAR scanner
The LiDar scanner measures how long it takes for light to reflect from objects to create a depth map of the space you are in, greatly enhancing the AR experience.
Apple could implement it on the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 this year or find it again only on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.
5. Ultra wide angle camera
The ultra-wide-angle sensor that the iPhone 12 has does not have autofocus, so we cannot select the part of the image that we want to focus or blur.
Apple would be considering updating the ultra-wide-angle sensor of the iPhone 13 to make it possible to use this option.
6. Other improvements
Finally, Apple could improve other features of the iPhone 13 cameras such as stabilization and optical zoom as well as improving the photographs of the night sky to have longer exposure times and internal processing that allow us to photograph the Moon and the stars.
We will have to wait a bit to know how many of these improvements reach the new iPhone 13, which of them remain more exclusively for the Pro and Pro Max models and which of them remain in the pipeline.
