On October 28 we finally got to see the official launch of Age of Empires 4 on PC, and we’ve already done our game review. This new installment of the favorite RTS franchise of many players has managed to gain a position on the list of best-selling titles. But this has not been his only achievement, but according to the data collected, Age of Empires 4 would have exceeded the not inconsiderable number of 70,000 players simultaneous during its launch weekend.
The data was collected from Steam servers, and show the number of 73,928 players worldwide in Age of Empires 4. As detailed on the VG247 website, this amount would be twice as many players as Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. This amount of players within the RTS title would put Age of Empires 4 within the top 20 most played games; while the amount of sales it has garnered exceed other titles such as Phasmophobia, New World and Back 4 Blood.
Age of Empires 4 will help pave the way for future RTS
Despite what many believed about RTS titles on PC, Age of Empires 4 has managed to hold its own very well in just its first weekend launch. In addition, the title is part of the Xbox Game Pass service, although it is currently exclusively for computers. On the other hand, the success of Age of Empires 4 could help define the future of RTS titles on PC a bit more, a genre that had not raised much head for a while.
