History tells us that the fall of Babylon took place during the year 539 BC, an event that marked the end of the Neo-Babylonian Empire after existing for almost 2,000 years as one of the greatest domains in the world. In the case of Babylon’s Fall, its end has come quickly, in the year 2022 after Christ after an existence that has not been exactly long or hegemonic.
In news that should not surprise anyone at this point, Babylon’s Fall announces its closurewhich will take place in a little over two months, the November 29, 2022. The title developed by Platinum Games has had an absolutely disastrous run even before it was released on the market. From an artistic style that was not at all graceful for its setting (and which was later modified in a successful way) to an approach as a game as a service (GAAS) that did not convince the fans of the Japanese studio, the title seemed doomed to fail from before of its release.

And perhaps it would have been enough if the drawbacks had stayed there. However, the game had other types of fundamental problems, such as a combat system that has not lived up to what is expected from a company like Platinum Games, famous mainly for making some of the best combat systems in the world. industry (as in Bayonetta or Vanquish).
The title went on the market crashing resoundingly both among players and in terms of specialized critics, settling on an average rating of 73 in opencritic. With this sad message, Platinum Games puts an end to what may be its biggest failure in the industry, even interrupting the content that they had scheduled for the future and that had already been announced previously. The move seems drastic, but having gotten to the point of only having one player active on occasion, it’s hardly surprising.
Rest in peace, Babylon’s Fall.
