The sixth generation of the Opel Corsa was already ready when PSA acquired the German brand and had the lightning utility completely redesigned. The only model that has remained off the hook from the range, sporting a different design to the modern Vizor. The Russelheim firm is already working on the Opel Corsa Facelift that it will present at the end of 2022, as a 2023 model.
Opel is respecting the terms of partial or total renewal of its models to apply the pertinent facelifts or the arrival of completely new generations. But this strategy is hurting, in a certain way, the smallest model of the lightning brand, since its sales in some countries are not as desired. For some, the sixth generation of the utility was born with an “old” design.
So what we don’t really know what it would have been like if PSA had not delayed its market launch when it took over Opel, by completely redesigning both the aesthetic and the technical level. This aside, for many the Corsa F should have received the design Vizor before deadline. A facelift that we anticipate in this recreation, with the modern style that characterizes all Opel models shining in the foreground, and that will change radically.
The keys to the Opel Corsa, and Corsa-e, Facelift 2022
The headlights will become more regular at the bottom, retaining the shape of the upper end, and merging into one piece with the black panel that the grill space has become. An aesthetic solution that offers a more avant-garde style in the utility vehicle, compared to the current anodyne design, lacking very important qualities in this category of the market such as character and sportsmanship.
At the rear, don’t expect a revolution. On the contrary, some improvements in the purest style of the face washes of the Crossland and the newer Grandland limiting itself to an adaptation of the new image of the pilots. Improvements that will also be completed with those of the interior. Although the original structure of the dashboard will not change, it is expected a new digital instrument cluster, a revised multimedia platform -screen included- and new higher quality materials, textiles and colors.
Plans call for the Opel Corsa FL to be presented at the second half of 2022, going on sale in early 2023, just when it will turn 3½ years, the middle of its commercial life cycle. Then, we will also see a rethinking of the range of engines, since the small model will completely forget about diesel. The range will only be gasoline -from 75 to 130 hp- and the electric Corsa-e, which will benefit from all the new features. We even expect an improvement in battery capacity that stretch your maximum range with almost 400 kilometers, but not in the electric motor that will maintain its 136 hp.
