Adobe announced a cluster of news coming to Lightroom, your star application for editing photos. Within the framework of Adobe MAX, the company presented functions that aim to simplify the experience for users of all levels. Some of the options use artificial intelligence to generate effects that are only possible if you have the right objective.
The most striking of all is Lens Blur, which adds one-touch optical blur. This function, which has become popular in recent years thanks to the Portrait Mode of mobile phones, can separate the subject from the background to highlight it. In the specific case of Lightroom, Lens Blur uses AI to generate a natural background blur, as if you were using a lens with a larger aperture.
According to Adobe, Lightroom’s artificial intelligence is capable of estimating the depth map of any photograph. When activated, Lens Blur generates a preview where you can adjust the amount of blur and the affected area, as well as select five different blur styles. bokeh. This feature will be available in Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, and web and mobile versions.
Another addition to improve photos is Color Point, which allows precise color adjustment on an individual basis. If you took a photo of a friend and notice that there is a change in skin tones, this option offers to refine it without affecting other colors. Color Point is independent of the Color Mixer and can be used in multiple scenarios.
Perhaps one of the most striking features of Lightroom is HDR optimization, which adds a complete high dynamic range workflow. This feature takes advantage of the iPhone’s camera and screen and compatible monitors to view, capture and edit photos.
Adobe also improves photo editing in Lightroom for mobile
Until a few years ago, editing photos on mobile was limited to those who took advantage of Snapseed. The problem is that many of the tools in these applications require prior knowledge to fully take advantage of them. In the case of Lightroom, Adobe has opted for a lighter edition and with commands similar to those we see in apps like Instagram.
New versions for iOS and Android will debut an optimized toolbar with the most used commands. In the list we find options to adjust color, lighting, detail and add special effects, including background blur. According to Adobe, the editing flow is more natural on mobile phones thanks to the ease of access to images and functions.
On this line, Lightroom has removed one of its most criticized features. The new version of Lightroom for Windows and Mac does not require you to import or sync your images to the cloud in order to edit them. If you want to make adjustments locally, the app upload your photos from internal storage or an external drivealthough it also allows you to upload them when you finish.
Other new features include a filter based on “Likes” and comments on the photos you share. AVIF, DNG and TFF formats are also supported to align with the Content Authenticity Initiative. This partnership promotes transparency in content creation, including that generated with artificial intelligence.
Some features are only available for certain versions of Lightroom. Mobile features will roll out gradually on iOS and Android, while web and desktop features will arrive starting today.
