Ming-Chi Kuo, the famous technology analyst, has posted on his account Twitter information that has caught the attention of the public. According to the aforementioned, a new HomePod could land in stores from the end of 2022; or in early 2023. However, it might not be as new as previous leaks announced.
In his tweet, Kuo comments that the new HomePod would already be in development within Apple’s offices. Nevertheless, it seems that it will not bring too many changes in terms of design and functionality. For this reason, some have begun to consider that it could be a replacement for the discontinued original HomePod; or even a slightly refreshed version of the current HomePod mini that the company sells.
Apple would release a new version of the HomePod in 4Q22-1Q23, and there might not be much innovation in the hardware design. Smart speakers are undoubtedly one of the essential elements of a home ecosystem, but I think Apple is still trying to figure out how to succeed in this market.

Since the original HomePod was discontinued, many rumors about a possible resurrection have come to light. Now, it seems that these words of Kuo could indicate that Apple is in that process. On the other hand, the HomePod mini hasn’t been refreshed since its original launch in November 2020 —except for the new colors—. Thus, this could suggest that those from Cupertino are already working on solving it with a new iteration of the product, and this time it would not be just to add new color variants.
More rumors about Apple products
Ming-Chi Kuo has a big presence on Twitter lately. It is well known that, for years, he is one of the most relevant filters on the scene Manzana. However, the analyst does not usually publish or delve into too specific details of the rumors and leaks that he projects.
Currently there are many rumors around Apple. Between them we have the possibility that those from Cupertino will eliminate the Lightning connection in the iPhone 15, finally replacing it with USB-C. In addition, we have the next to be launched iPhone 14 Pro, which would arrive with a notch completely renovated and a slightly larger camera module than the current generation.
As for the company’s ecosystem, some leaks suggest that the company is working on a hybrid of Apple TV with HomePod. However, it does not seem that Kuo’s rumors have anything to do with this future device, since the analyst has described said product as one in which “there may not be much innovation.”
Yes indeed, remember to take all rumors with a grain of salt. After all, there are many that never come to pass. We will have to wait for the official presentation of the company to confirm if these alleged leaks will end up being true; or if they will be just one of many that never came to fruition.
