GoldenEye 007’s role in video game history cannot be underestimated. Many would describe GoldenEye 007 as the pinnacle of local multiplayer shooters for its 4 player split screen action. That nostalgia has long fueled calls for GoldenEye 007 to be updated for modern audiences.
And this could happen soon, because apparently, the study of XboxRare, has been working on a remastering of golden eye 007. It is more than a rumour, as firm evidence of its existence has been discovered. Those tests include achievements Xbox official releases for the game, even though it has yet to be announced.
That’s how fans of golden eye 007 have been able to track achievements through data mining websites, see that an achievement has been earned, and link it to a Rare developer. The achievement in question is titled “Ruthless” and is achieved by killing an unarmed player, which awards 20 points.
It was achieved by player ‘BIGsheep’, a name also used on Twitter by Rare’s chief engineer, James Thomas. BIGsheep has been advancing for several months in multiple achievements for golden eye 007although this is the first he has completed.
Some believe that the timing of this achievement is intentional. Microsoft and Bethesda’s Games Showcase 2022 will air on June 12 and will be packed with game announcements. It is possible that GoldenEye 007 will be announced or even premiered during the event.
Fans are hoping that BIGsheep’s achievement is Rare’s way of giving a nod to GoldenEye 007’s audience that news is coming soon. Of course, it could also just be a coincidence.
