The highlight of the first day of Labitconf 2022 in Buenos Aires (Argentina) was a debate in which Juan Llanos, Alejandro Palantzas, Samson Mow, Vitalik Buterin and Jimmy Song participated, who were also accompanied by Rodolfo Andragnes and Diego Gutiérrez Zaldívar as moderator.
And it is that the conversation, which started by raising what had happened with FTX in recent days, rose to a larger scale to focus on the decentralization of finance with a heated discussion between important representatives of the world crypto scene.
Jimmy Song argued that it is important to learn the lesson of the FTX crash and not place trust in unreliable companies.
“Nobody checked anything. The people who bought did not see where the money was going and did not even read the white paper. This is a culture that was built in the last 10 years. The problem is trust without verification. It is the opposite of Bitcoin. In BTC one has to verify everything. We have to learn to verify”, remarked Jimmy Song.
Vitalik Buterin, on the other hand, said that it is necessary to choose who to trust and be an investment alternative.
“We as people who care about decentralization have to be pure and effective. Pure enough to be a credible alternative,” said the Ethereum founder.
In the end, Gutiérrez Zaldívar pointed out: “Bitcoin is a necessity for society, not as something static but as a possible path.”
