Indeed conducted an extensive analysis of more than 55 million job postings posted on its platform over the past year. More than 2,600 individual job skills present in these offerings were identified and organized into 48 thematic skill categories.
It then used ChatGPT to assess your ability to perform each of these skill categories, giving ratings ranging from “poor” to “excellent.” Thus, it was possible to know which professions are most exposed and which are in less danger.
The 10 professions most exposed to GenAI
Professions related to software development face the greatest potential for exposure to generative AI.
ChatGPT rated itself “good” or “excellent” on more than 95% of the skills specified in software development job postings.
This is because AI can help in writing efficient code and preparing and summarizing technical documentation.
In general, technology skills, from general computer skills to specific technical skills like Java, are critical in many occupations and are subject to disruption by Generative AI (GenAI). Approximately 18.4% of skills mentioned in common job postings include technology skills. GenAI is considered “good” at these skills.
Jobs with less danger of being replaced
Despite GenAI’s capabilities, there are jobs that face a lower risk of being replaced due to the nature of the skills required and the human interaction required:
Drivers
Driving-related occupations, such as vehicle drivers, face a low potential for exposure to GenAI technology. GenAI rated itself “good” or “excellent” on only 29% of all skills specified in driver job postings. Manual tasks, such as turning the steering wheel, cannot be performed by AI.
