Spring ends on June 20, so the summer starts June 21which also begins the summer season (when temperatures rise) for the northern hemisphere, since winter is welcomed in the southern hemisphere.
June 21 is the summer solstice. According to Semarnat, the word solstice comes from “sol” and “sistre” (to stay still), since the seasonal movement of the daily path of the Sun (as seen from Earth) seems to “stay still” at a limit north or south before reversing direction.
