Today, during the press conference “La Mañanera”, the President of the Mexican Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) was questioned about the visit of Joe Biden to the country and whether this could, in any way, affect the relations that Mexico has with Russia.
Let us remember that since the invasion of Russia In Ukrainian territory, the president has declared himself in a neutral position, assuring that he would seek to maintain friendly relations with all the countries of the world.

Government of Mexico reaffirms neutrality and refuses to release relations with Russia
When questioned about the possible affectation of relations between Mexico and Russia as a result of Joe Biden’s visit to Mexico, the head of the Executive assured that he will not change his position, and that in fact he would maintain a friendly relationship with all the countries of the world .
In addition, he clarified that the issue itself is not even part of the discussion agenda for the North American Leaders Summit.
“Mexico is neutral and it is a free country and it is an independent country that has relations with all the countries of the world,” said the President.
In addition, it was mentioned that, after the European Parliament classify Russia as a state promoter of terrorism, it is speculated that President Putin could be in a delicate state of health, with which the Russian embassy in Mexico could be spreading a large amount of false news. However, the Mexican president denied the accusations:
“We maintain friendly relations with all the peoples and with all the governments of the world. In terms of geopolitics, and also for other reasons that have to do with our friendship and the number of Mexicans who work, who live in the United States, it is very important to us to maintain relations with the government and the people of the United States. That is very clear. But they are also relations of respect for our sovereignties and that is understood by the United States government. We make it worth it. We don’t allow them to tell us who we should have relationships with and who not.”
With this, the president assured that his position is maintained. He points out that he will definitely not cut ties with the Russian government, neither commercial nor diplomatic.
