After Phase 4 closed with Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverPhase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will begin with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This is one of the films that may be most relevant to what was developed during that phase and the next. Everything, starting with a key name: kang the conqueror.
A variant of this character was introduced during the first season of Loki. He entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as “The One That Remains,” a version tasked with guarding the flow of time. That character, played by Jonathan Majors, explained that he was just one of the kinder versions that existed in different timelines.
That opened the door to multiple interpretations, since “The One Who Remains” also commented that its other variants could be ruthless in many ways. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania It is striking because it will be the first film in which one of these versions of Kang The Conqueror will be formally presented. Judging by the preview, it is one with a lot of power. But, as recently revealed, one that needs the help of Scott Langplayed since 2015 by Paul Rudd.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
and a key plot detail
In the first preview of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, there is a moment when Kang the Conqueror approaches Paul Rudd and tells him that he needs his help. So that? Both are within the Quantum Realm, a world that has its own rules and codes. The film’s director, Payton Reed, offered an explanation for this.
This is a relevant detail because it invites us to think about how relevant the relationship between Paul Rudd and Kang The Conqueror can be during Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. reed said to the magazine Empire that Kang the Conqueror wants to get out of the Quantum Realm because he is trapped in it. That’s why she offers Paul Rudd the chance to help him…if he can lend a hand too.
In addition to this information, the director explained the differences between Kang El Conquistador and the variant presented in LokaYodefined as “He who remains”:
“He’s a very different character (relative to ‘He Who Remains’). He is someone who has control over time. He is a warrior and a strategist. It’s interesting to me to take the smallest and weakest Avenger – in some people’s minds – and pit him against this absolute force of nature.”
Kang The Conqueror will be the main villain of Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is intuited that this will not be the only variant of the character that will be part of the franchise. The premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled for February 17, 2023.
