In 2022, there were 3.5 million tweets around the world about Checo Pérez. Of these, at least 2 million are reviews from unique authors who are engaged and connected by using ‘@schecoperez’ on the platform. In addition, more than a million of this type of tweets came from Mexico.
The driver’s peak of popularity was on May 29, the day he took first place on the podium during the Monaco Grand Prix. The second busiest day was March 26, during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix where the driver took pole position for the first time.
According to Twitter, the most used are: #checopérez, #cont11gocheco, #vamoscheco, #mexicanpower and #teamcheco. While the tweets with the most retweets were the ones that gave the announcement of the Mexican driver’s win in Monaco.
It should be noted that in Mexico, Checo is the most tweeted driver, followed by Max Verstappen and in third place, Lewis Hamilton – but curiously, the latter leads the F1 conversation globally, within the social network led, now, by Elon Musk.
In February 2021, F1 revealed its social media behaviour, uncovering some interesting numbers. On Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, and Chinese platforms (Weibo, WeChat, Toutiao, and Douyin), followers increased 40% to 49.1 million.
While the pilots’ social networks also play an important role in the digital conversation. Hamilton has an approximate audience of 42.8 million followers on his social networks, while Verstappen follows him as the most popular on networks, with only 14.4 million followers.
Checo Pérez only has an accumulated of 9 million dollars in his social networks, however he is within the Top 5 of the most followed drivers in F1.
