Last week the Obi-Wan Kenobi series finally came to an end. While we wait for a possible second season, it was recently revealed that original plans were not to make just one movie, but three in total.
Recently, Stuart Beattie, the original director of the project, was interviewed by The Direct, where he spoke a little more about his involvement in this project, and confirmed that he had plans to create three stories that would give us a look at how Obi-Wan Kenobi transforms into Ben. This is what he commented on it:
“I wrote the movie they based the show on. Then yes. I spent like a year, year and a half working on it. And then when the decision was made not to do any more movies after Solo came out, I left the project and moved on to other things. Joby came and took my scripts and converted them from 2 to 6 hours. So, I didn’t work with them on everything, I just got credit for a few episodes.
So when I pitched my Obi-Wan story to Lucasfilm, I said, ‘Actually, there are 3 stories here. Because there are 3 different evolutions that the character has to do to go from Obi-Wan to Ben (before he sacrifices himself).
Nevertheless, the failure of Only in theaters completely changed Lucasfilms plans. As you may recall, several projects that were originally being conceptualized as movies were turned into series for Disney+, and one of these was Obi-Wan Kenobi.
On related topics,Obi-Wan Kenobi will have a second season? Similarly, it seems that the series contradicted the canon of Leia.
Editor’s note:
Although the series Obi-Wan Kenobi had a number of interesting ideas, the end result left something to be desired. In this way, I’m not excited about a second season. Along with this, the series has the problem that we already know exactly what will happen to the main character, and you can’t even use characters like Darth Maul.
