Those areas are “on the front lines” of climate change, which is “particularly felt” there, said IMF Director General Kristalina Georgieva at the World Government Summit, a forum organized in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
“In the last twenty years, the frequency and severity of climate catastrophes have increased in this region more than in the others,” he added.

He recalled the lack of means in “many countries in the region” and asked the rich countries to fulfill their promise to help the most disadvantaged nations in the fight against global warming.
