The number of arrivals in the EU has slowed down, to settle at 50,000 a day, against 200,000 at the time of greatest flow, according to the European Commission.
“It is important to encourage the refugees to leave Poland and try to go to other member countries as well, otherwise the situation will not be manageable,” warned the commissioner.
People fleeing Ukraine can benefit from the beginning of March in the EU of a temporary protection of up to three years, which allows them to access housing, the labor market, the school system and the social and health system, under a 2001 directive that was used for the first time.
