From the different measures of flexibility in the current context of the pandemic, announced by the National Government, the CABA and other jurisdictions throughout the country, on Tuesday of this week the debate arose regarding the use of the chinstrap, with the second wave receding , but with the threat of the Delta variant of the coronavirus that already circulates in Argentina. Following the announcement of the Ministry of Health of the Nation that it will be possible to circulate without a chinstrap if a person is alone in the open air or with his group of cohabitants in the open air as of October 1.
The government of the City of Buenos Aires decided not to comply with the recommendation of the Casa Rosada and maintain the mandatory use of the mask both outdoors and indoors. For its part, the national government announced a battery of measures aimed at easing the restrictions in force due to the pandemic. In the morning, Minister Carla Vizzotti announced that it will no longer be necessary to wear chinstraps outdoors, but in the afternoon they clarified that it was actually a recommendation and that the final decision depended on the jurisdictions. Salta and Jujuy announced that they will not adhere. And this Wednesday the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires joined.
“We know that in the open space the contagiousness is much lower, but in the City we intend to reach 70% of the population with the two doses of the vaccine before taking these types of measures,” explained Quirós on radio Con Vos.
The comings and goings in the official communication generated some confusion. In fact, yesterday many young people were seen celebrating in the forests of Palermo without chinstraps because they believed that it was no longer mandatory to use them. Now Quirós explained that there are no changes and the people of Buenos Aires must continue to cover their mouth and nose to avoid the spread and contagion of coronavirus.
In this sense, the official recalled that the Buenos Aires government already implements “a progressive and planned opening plan of six stages”, and assured that “many of the measures that were announced yesterday are already being implemented.” “The sense of the measures that the Nation communicated is correct, but you have to look at jurisdiction by jurisdiction how far the vaccination advanced and how many of those measures can be implemented,” he added.
Along the same lines, and in dialogue with the journalist Luis Novaresio, on La Red radio, Quirós confirmed that “today is not the time yet (to stop wearing the chinstrap outdoors), we are waiting to reach the milestone that we committed to, and surely in the next 10 days we will reach it. The Minister of the Nation makes a recommendation, given that proposal in our jurisdiction we are very close to achieving it ”.
It also enables 100% capacity in economic, industrial, commercial, service, religious, cultural, sports, recreational and social activities in closed places, maintaining prevention, mask, distance and ventilation measures.
Retiree and graduate trips, or student groups or similar, are authorized following the recommended protocols. And the 50% capacity in the discos, for people with a complete vaccination scheme (14 days prior to the event). The official stressed that this is the activity with the highest risk, taking into account the Delta variant.
The announcement also included the fitting out of party rooms, dances or similar activities. They will be allowed for people who prove a complete vaccine scheme (14 days prior to the event) or a dose plus a negative diagnostic test (PCR or Antigen) within 48 hours prior to the event. Special protocol for parties of 15 or for children under 17 years of age while vaccination in adolescents progresses.
