Does it help to be online? 9 out of 10 entrepreneurs in Mexico increased their sales with digital tools, according to the results of the 2022 Entrepreneurship Survey presented by GoDaddy.
What are the main drivers of a business?
84% of respondents consider social media to be their most important sales channel, followed by their own online store or website (80%).
As the business and consumer landscape evolves, today’s entrepreneurs and small business owners recognize the need to take advantage of the digital tools and resources at their disposal to prepare for and adapt to market changes.
84% of small business owners in the Survey said they take advantage of digital tools, of which 64% started selling through social networks, 28% started using digital marketing tools, another 28% created a website website and 19% stated that they had developed an online store to sell their products and services.
Does it have to be difficult to digitize?
Nope. Of the entrepreneurs who commented that they already use a website to offer their products, 93% developed it without the help of a professional. Of this sample, 75% said they created it on their own using tools such as GoDaddy, which is a website builder, or a web publishing and management platform like WordPress.
The Survey looks at the importance of digitization and how maintaining a strong online presence can help small businesses thrive in times of economic uncertainty and recovery.

Of the total number of respondents, 26% are 100% digital businesses, and 23% are committed to an omnichannel strategy with a physical store, a website and an online store.
Opportunities in the Mexican market
GoDaddy’s 2022 Entrepreneurship Survey also reveals entrepreneurs’ interest in learning more about digitizing their business.
77% said they want to learn more about how to use social media for their business, 67% about how to create a website or online store, 66% about how to implement digital marketing strategies, 55% about how to sell online (e-commerce), with 36% saying they are interested in learning more about online security for small businesses.
When it comes to web security, only 24% stated that they currently protect their online business with website or online store backup (45%), malware scanning (37%), or an SSL certificate for their website (34%).
However, 3 in 10 said they don’t because they think a small business doesn’t need it (42%), or they think it’s too expensive (31%). On the other hand, 5 out of 10 want to do it, but don’t know how.
Tools
Finally, when asked about the digital tools they plan to implement in the near future that they are not using now, digital marketing (59%), an online store (47%), and content creation tools such as a logo and social media post maker, and an image editing tool (42%) were the top responses.
Entrepreneurs and small business owners are a shining example of adaptability, hard work, and long-term commitment. And, as new technology-driven solutions and tools take hold in the Mexican market, the chances of growing your business also increase.
