Moviegoers are celebrating because the Cineteca International Film Festival is back for its 72nd edition. It is a special program, with films taken from all over the world, which generally gives visibility to projects that are otherwise form would never be projected in theaters in Mexico. It also means the advancement of some international premieres of interest, ahead of the awards season.
The Sample number 72 of the Cineteca will take place from November 10 to 27 in Mexico City. The list is made up of 14 films from nationalities such as France, Austria, Germany, Romania, Italy, Colombia, Belgium and, of course, Mexico. Two of them are remastered classics and the rest are films that have never seen the light of day in theaters in our country.

The highlights of this year’s selection are films such as TAR from director Todd Field, which stars actress Cate Blanchett. It tells the story of a woman who has the honor of becoming the first conductor of a prestigious German orchestra and suddenly finds her career overshadowed by a personal scandal.
You can also see Gem Mantle by Mexican director Natalia López Gallardo, a film that won the award for Best Direction at the last Morelia International Film Festival (FICM 2022). As well as Pacificionan acclaimed film at Cannes directed by Albert Serra, who was also present at Morelia.
Secondly the caifans, Juan Ibáñez’s 1966 classic, will be screened with a version rescued by the Elena Sánchez Valenzuela Digital Laboratory of the Cineteca Nacional. Like the red desert (1964) by Michelangelo Antonioni, which visits theaters in Mexico with its remastered version in 4K.

How and where to buy tickets?
Tickets for the 72nd edition of the Festival can now be purchased through the Cineteca website. However, the organization will also make the sale of vouchers available for those who wish to see all the films at a more affordable price.
