I have to confess, dear readers, that after the pandemic I became a lover of podcasts, before that, I tried, but they didn’t catch me. The reality is that during the pandemic I found space to reconnect with exercise and it is while I do some training that I take advantage of the time to listen to podcasts. I know that there are those who listen to them while driving, others while taking a bath, because in my case it is while I exercise.
I think what brought me closer was that they began to share episodes that were very relevant to me at that time, like one about the truths of the pitch in advertising and on the other hand, close friends began to make their own podcasts and invited me to participate in them, so, well, I couldn’t turn a blind eye, or in this case a blind ear if it applies, and I fell into its clutches and today it is my favorite means of entertainment and training.
That is why, from my experience and from the podcasts that I have come across due to different circumstances and have captivated me, I leave you my top 5 for you who are an entrepreneur or who work in the creative-strategic industry.
This podcast defines itself as “a space to share ideas, questions and experiences of marketing, advertising and communication”. It is hosted by Bernardo Pavón (Director at Press360), Alex Gershberg (Mkt Director of Grupo Modelo) and Gerónimo Ávila (CoFounder of Element and Sonoro) and they have expert guests in the disciplines I already mentioned. Actually I like it a lot, because I don’t feel like they are interviews, they are conversations, since the drivers themselves have a lot of experience and ease when speaking, so it becomes a great formula for learning and pure knowledge. In fact, this podcast was one of the first that I listened to with a great specialization in advertising.
This is a podcast created by Efraín Mendicuti who is Head of Global Business Solutions at TikTok Mexico. In this podcast Efraín talks with his guests about his career, experience and best practices to make something extraordinary out of everyday life. Thanks to his past in advertising agencies, he talks with great references in the area and has excellent conversations, in the same way he does with experts from the world of entrepreneurship and business. A great podcast, I highly recommend it.
Perhaps the podcast with the best production and the most creativity involved is this one; the podcast of “Pana” Sebastián Arrachedera, which also won the Latin Podcast Awards in 2021. El Pana meets once a week to talk with the leaders of the creative world and they talk about different topics in an atmosphere of anecdotes, friendship and life . Be careful, and he does everything from the Martínez bar at least virtually, well I think that at this very moment he is doing it now in person at the Martínez while running Cannes. If you want to have fun, learn about the entertainment of advertising and learn a lot, this is an excellent option.
Going fully into business matters, if you are a general manager in a company or your own company, this podcast will not disappoint you. It is led by Armando Domínguez who is the founder of BM Digital. In this podcast, each chapter touches on different learnings around this difficult and solitary task.
Also in the business world and perhaps a little more focused on entrepreneurs, Luis Ramos’ podcast arrives, who devours business books and shares them in an easy and entertaining way to his growing audience. This was one of the first podcasts I listened to and it helped me find out about the content of many books that had been recommended to me, I don’t think it replaces the complete reading of the books but it gives you a good overview of them, while you’re doing something else, in my case, exercise.
Finally, I leave two more pylon:
* leadership, this is mine, in which I talk to different leaders in the creative industry, from marketing directors, agency owners, media business managers, market research experts, etc. On the challenges of directors in the creative world, the challenges and learning.
* The Alex Fernandez Podcastthis is neither about creativity nor about business, but since Alex was a marketer I forced him in, if suddenly it’s the weekend and you’ve already trained enough and all you want is to clear your mind, well I recommend you this great podcast, which along with the Cotorrisa, are my favorites to get one or more laughs out of me.
Well, that’s the end of it, I hope these recommendations are useful for you and help you to continue developing and training yourself as a creative or as an entrepreneur.
