Do not miss: The curiosities surrounding the production of The Avengers
The Joss Whedon-directed film became an immediate box office hit. On a narrative level, this film marked a watershed for the nascent MCU. Not only because of the events that unfolded in the film, but also because of the seeds sown by the plot, which led to different stories in the future.
Discover some of the contributions that the premiere of The Avengers made to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Origin of Stark Tower / Avengers Tower
One of the headquarters that attracted attention was the Stark Tower, which later became the Avengers Tower, one of the most advanced headquarters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a point of visit in New York for the MCU.
What began as a sustainable energy project by Stark Industries became the point where one of the events that marked the MCU throughout its four phases began and ended.
The Chitauri invasion (The Incident), the before and after of the MCU
Loki’s intentions in getting the tesseract were to lead the invasion of the Chitauri alien race and become the king of the earth, with the support of Thanos, who also saw Earth as an opportunity to extend his rule.
These events and the resistance of the Avengers, who, based on teamwork and determination, managed to repel and defeat this invading race, in what represented one of the most painful defeats of the Mad Titan.
New stories were built after the events of Avengers
An event of great proportions always has great stories that were woven into its development, or the start of new adventures as a result of these events, and the invasion of New York was no exception.
The history of Agents of SHIELD would not have been possible without the “death” of Coulson, or the start of the alternate business of Adrian Toomes / Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming emerged after this event, as well as the interest of Kate Bishop for emulating the exploits of Hawkeye.
Thanos: the great threat
The end of Avengers gave us the hand that rocks the cradle and the architect of the invasion and destruction of the earth, as is Thanos, who took his place as the great villain of the first three parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the defeat on earth, the Mad Titan adjusted his plans and now his goal was to get the six infinity gems, of which we met two in the first phase of the MCU, the teaseract (space) and Loki’s scepter (mind) , which ultimately led to his most ambitious plan for expansion and dominance.
The Earth is prepared for an advanced war
“They are announcing to all the worlds that the Earth is prepared for a more advanced war.”. It was one of Odinson’s lines that slowly became a Thor theory becoming reality.
The super-soldier serum, Iron Man armor, Wakanda technology, sorcerers and the Eternals would be the planet’s lines of defense for a major war conflict. A secret war in the future?
