Passed the Ypres Rally, the World Rally Championship sets its sights on Greece as the Acropolis Rally appears on the horizon as the eleventh appointment on your calendar. The Hellenic round has a large registration list made up of youn total of 70 crews, although much of the attention will be focused on the thirteen ‘Rally1’ hybrids present in the assistance park of the event. With everything, the WRC2 category returns to the health of previous tests and will feature 35 ‘Rally2’ vehicles fighting for the final victory.
Four are the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 present in Greecethis being one of the few fixed things within the WRC in each rally. Kalle Rovanperä as leader of the World Cup once again heads the proposal of the Japanese firm, while Elfyn Evans and Esapekka Lappi complete the commitment of the brand’s official team. In structure ‘B’, as usual, Takamoto Katsuta. There are also no news at Hyundai, with three i20 N Rally1 to be shared between Ott Tänak, Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo. For its part, M-Sport throws the house out the window and will have up to six units of its Ford Puma Rally1 in competition, a figure that contrasts with the three he had in Belgium. The fixed part of the M-Sport lineup is made up of Craig Breen, Gus Greensmith and Adrien Fourmauxwhile the volatile elements of the team also coincide in the Hellenic test. Sébastien Loeb, Pierre-Louis Loubet and local hero Jourdan Serderidis all have the Acropolis Rally on their scheduleshence the Cumbrian trainer has six cars on the Greek gravel stages.
Leaving aside the queen class, 35 ‘Rally2’ vehicles meet in the WRC2 category of the Acropolis Rally. Andreas Mikkelsen heads the entry list as the leader, but will face stiff competition in the form of Yohan Rossel, Teemu Suninen or their teammates Marquito Bulacia -with Diego Vallejo-, Nikolay Gryazin and Emil Lindholm. Other regular silver class riders like Chris Ingram, Gaurav Gil, Martin Prokop, Bruno Bulacia -with Marc Martí- or Armin Kremer. Nor the Spaniard Miguel Díaz-Aboitiz.
A large group of Greek crews close the registration in WRC2 giving way to the nine registered in the WRC3 category, six in the Junior category and four in the Open class, figures that fit since William Creighton is immersed in the two aforementioned classifications. Within this WRC3 Open class is Diego Domínguez with the Spanish Rogelio Peñate as co-driverwhile out of category, Diego Sanjuan will compete with the Mexican Alejandro Mauro Sánchez in a Renault Clio Rally4.
