The American company EV Safe Charge has presented an autonomous charging robot for parked electric cars. This robot reserves a parking space for you and travels to it to load your vehicle.
The idea that EV Safe Charge has had sounds quite attractive, since if you have an electric car it solves two problems in one go. And it is that not only does it find parking for you, but it also puts a charger at your disposal at that point.
This is Ziggy, a smart rolling robot provided with a charger for electric vehicles that moves autonomously. In this way, the user does not have to worry about finding a free charging point.
Although this robot is not yet a reality, EV Safe Chargean American company specializing in charging solutions for electric vehicles, hopes to bring it to market in the coming months.
This is how Ziggy works.
Meet a market need
Ziggy intends to cover what EV Safe Charge considers to be one of the main limitations that the electric mobility sector has, a lack of charging infrastructure.
In the opinion of Caradoc Ehrenhalt, founder and CEO of EV Safe Charge, Ziggy will be “a perfect robot to carry out its work in shopping malls, in work environment car parks or even for historic spaces where it is notably complicated, or impossible, the electrical installation of charging points.
At this time, the Ehrenhalt company is immersed in the financing process to start the production and marketing at the beginning of 2023. The initial plan is to start in New York or San Francisco, although they assume that their success will allow them to expand the service to other cities in the world.
How is Ziggy?
Ziggy’s service is controlled by a mobile device application or even from the vehicle’s own infotainment system.
As is logical, the request must be made with a few minutes of margin to give this robot time to reserve a parking space and move to it to start recharging. Once said task has been completed, Ziggy notifies the user through the app and returns to its loading center to recharge and be able to perform a new service.
This autonomous robot incorporates two large screens designed to project advertising that contributes to reduce the cost of the service for the user. For now, EV Safe Charge has not shared any more technical information about Ziggy.
