Those of OPPO have a commitment to the future of perpetual autonomy and charging without cables, chargers and without the need for the electrical network, which they have called Zero-Power.
Perhaps one of the biggest fantasies of those who are passionate about technology is never having to charge their devices again. And, it is that, the current advances in charging technologies have focused on reducing the time we spend waiting.
Fast charging is the order of the day in practically all devices from different manufacturers, but the future we need may be another. OPPO has in its hands a promise of a future in which devices do not need to be charged.
They have called this Zero-Power technology and, the truth is, it is still in its infancy at the level of real utility. The way they work is as follows: the devices would be charged using Bluetooth signals, Wi-Fi and even the telephone network itself.
Yes, it may seem like something out of a science fiction movie and, although it is a promise for the future, at the moment it is only applicable to small devices with low consumption. Mobile phones, logically, do not fall into this category.
In fact, OPPO has talked about the type of devices that would fall into this product category and, the truth is that these would be very small in the style of smart tags that Apple has for tracking.
Among the main advantages cited by the company is the fact that, theoretically, these devices would have almost eternal autonomy. And, it is that, by not needing charging bases or a direct connection to the electric current, the autonomy would not depend on the user.
Of course, having almost perpetual autonomy would not be the only benefit of OPPO’s new technology. Being able to charge through the different waves, the charging ports on these devices would disappear and this would allow them to be much smaller.
Broadly speaking, all these advances would mean progress in terms of reducing the use of materials. In fact, that these devices can do without batteries would imply no longer needing specific minerals for the manufacture of the same.
However, what OPPO has shown is nothing more than a future on paper. We will have to wait until the company decides to make Zero-Power a reality, this may be the breakthrough technology needs.
Of course, for the moment, the only thing we can do is remain patient until we see how the Asian company manages to bring this new technology to reality. We hope they don’t take long to do so.
