Balan Wonderworld It is considered one of the worst games of 2021, and for a long time, the blame fell on Yuji Naka, the director of this installment. However, the co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog surprised us earlier today by revealing that sued Square Enix for removing him from the position of director of Balan WonderworldNot just once, but twice.
Through Twitter, Naka shared a story that no one expected. According to the developer, six months before the release of Balan Wonderworld, a trade order was issued to remove him as director, prompting the lawsuit. The trial is now over and Naka can now speak about this case, although we do not have details about the verdict. This was what was mentioned about it:
“I think Square Enix and Arzest are companies that don’t care about games or game fans. According to the court documents, I was separated from the position of director of Balan Wonderworld in two moments. This was carried out by the producer, the publicist, the director in charge, and human resources.
The other issue is that according to the court documents, it was written that my relationship with Arzest was falling apart, due to my comments about releasing the game without fixing it, even when there were glitches during development.
A game is something that is made by working hard to the end, and wanting the fans to enjoy it when they buy it.”
#BalanWonderworld pic.twitter.com/9KE7hLqfor

Throughout his messages, Naka laments the state in which he left Balan Wonderworld, and apologizes to the fans. Alongside this, it is mentioned that the relationship between the developer and Arzest, the team behind this title, was bad. Although it was pointed out on multiple occasions that this delivery should be delayed to improve the quality of the product, Noriyoshi Fujimoto, the producer, decided to go ahead with the initial plans.
At the moment there is no official response from Square Enix about this projectbut this clears up many doubts about the quality of Balan Wonderworld and Yuji Naka’s strange departure from the studio. In related topics, here you can learn more about Naka’s departure from Square Enix. In the same way, this game is a complete failure.
Editor’s note:
It’s a shame that someone with Yuji Naka’s background has these kinds of relationships and is treated in such a way. Although this is the developer’s perspective, and we still need to know Square Enix’s statements, considering the studio’s history, this is not that hard to believe.
