The end of 2020 saw the launch of next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft, and since then the companies have been known to already be working on their next hardware. However, a youtuber was ahead of Sony and created the first playstation 5 slim of the world.
This weekend the channel DIY Perks on YouTube he posted a video showing how they built the world’s first PlayStation 5 Slim, preempting Sony, who usually release a smaller version of their consoles roughly 3 years after the original release.

Through a 29-minute video, Matt Perks of DIY Perks walks through the process behind creating the world’s first PlayStation 5 Slim, showing step-by-step how Perk approached every problem with his creative solutions, that allowed him to make a console with a thickness similar to that of a DVD case.
The DIY Perks PlayStation 5 Slim features an external power and cooling unit, otherwise it would not have been possible to create such a slim console, but the advantage is that the external unit can be easily hidden. The end result features a PlayStation 5 Slim that doesn’t look bad at all, and even has better cooling than the PS5 Original.
Surely Sony is working on new versions of PlayStation 5, so we will not be surprised if they announce a PS5 Slim in the coming years, but most likely, Sony’s design will not be as reduced as the one proposed by DYI Perks, since they would need an external drive for certain components.
