- YouTube Music Premium has surpassed 50 million subscribers
- From December 2020 to September 2021, YouTube Music added around 30 million new subscribers
- Apple Music occupies, so far, the second place in the universe of music streaming platforms
A recent Google report confirms that YouTube Music has surpassed 50 million subscribers, 30 million more than it reported in December last year.
Music streaming platforms are having a great boom since they were placed among the preferences of the users, which has resulted in a very interesting competition landscape.
Since their appearance, platforms such as Spotify have not had the impact that, at that time, was expected, but they had a gradual growth until reaching the point that, today, they are one of the main ways of consuming music.
After Spotify began to position itself, naturally in the market when a product starts to work, more platforms came out that offered the same experience, although they are their own rules, their own designs and their own strategies. This is how the market moves regularly.
Now, thanks to the fact that this market is working, we have other platforms: Apple Music, Amazon Music and, of course, YouTube Music, the latter is the one that is attracting attention in a very considerable way.
YouTube Music, according to what was published in its Blog, added around 30 million new users in its premium mode, a very important increase considering that its most recent report dates from December of last year:
“It has been almost six years since we started our YouTube subscription journey and today we are excited to share the news that we have surpassed 50 million Music and Premium subscribers, including testers. It is an honor to create a membership that allows people to dive deeper into music, learning, fashion, gaming, and more, while also supporting the creators and artists who make it possible. Music and premium subscriptions are key pillars of YouTube monetization, allowing unique content and communities to flourish.
As we continue to add new features and benefits for our members, we focus on creating experiences at the intersection of watching, listening and engaging that are only possible due to the diversity of voices on YouTube. ”
This means that, in less than a year, YouTube Music doubled the number of its paying subscribers in less than a year. Of course, it is not known if they are real subscribers or if they are also subscribers who take their free trial, which lasts one month.
Before, this was almost unimaginable, because no one would have thought of paying for a service that they could have for free, although, yes, with advertisements. However, it is a reality and not only happens with YouTube Music.
While this increase in subscribers does not represent any danger for Spotify, the application that dominates the market with 165 million premium subscribers, it is a wake-up call for Apple Music which is the one that occupies the second place with 65 million users.
On the other hand, this also speaks of how these platforms are growing even more and are positioned in the taste of users or consumers. In addition to YouTube Music, YouTube Premium is also becoming much more important at a time in history when digital content is overtaking traditional television content.
