The mist of mystery from Skull and Bones begins to lift as Ubisoft offers new details of the pirate video game. After the presentation of the first cinematic trailer and two gameplays, we tell you what the ship system, its customization and weapons will be like. Now the game director, Ryan Barnardhas revealed new details about the story.
In Skull and Bones you will be the captain of your destiny
Ryan Barnard offers new details of Skull and Bones in an interview for True Achievements in which he talks about the history of the game. He has made it clear that the gaming experience will NOT be story-centric or main story like Assassin’s Creed for example.
“It’s not a narrative game. We have narrative parts in the game, like meeting important characters called Kingpins who have their own stories that you will discover as you develop your relationship with them after accepting the contract.”
“There’s an underlying story to the game that builds all the lore in the world, but it’s not the main focus. We want players to create their own stories and be able to choose what kind of pirate they want to become.”
The story of Skull and Bones It will help give context to the world. Obviously, it will have its own lore, which will expand as new content arrives. A very similar example is Sea of Thieves, which has incredible stories and lore, but they are not the backbone of the experience.
The main motivation to move forward will be the progression systemaccording to Bernard. As you progress, you gain access to different blueprints for ship types, weaponry, armor, and more customization. Being better prepared will allow you to access different locations, activities, and enemies.
Skull and Bones it will be a supported game for years, which means they will introduce new content. It hasn’t hit the market yet, but its fans already have crazy theories: stories of famous pirates, sea monsters, world events with hurricanes, crossovers with other franchises…
Skull and Bones will be released on November 8, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; just one day before God of War Ragnarok. What a week awaits us!
