Yohan Rossel has lost his victory in the WRC3 class of the Acropolis Rally due to a technical infraction that has cost him exclusion from the event. In post-test verifications, the FIA technical stewards saw that the front subframe of the French driver’s Citroën C3 Rally2 exceeded the allowed weight in almost 100 grams. The FIA has imposed a fine of 30,000 euros on Citroën Racing, leaving the payment of half of this amount contingent on the occurrence of an infraction of a similar nature by the French structure before the end of the season.
The WRC bronze class leader had not had his easiest event at the Acropolis Rally. In fact, Chris Ingram was the protagonist during the first half of the test. Rossel took the leadership of the WRC3 category in SS9 and little by little he escaped in search of a victory that allowed him to almost definitively sentence the championship. With everything, this victory has come to nothing after the disqualification of Rossel and the category tightens in the lead since Kajetan Kajetanowicz has inherited the triumph. The new podium in Greece was completed by Chris Ingram and Emil Lindholm.
In relation to the exclusion of Rossel, an FIA spokesman explained that in the verifications of the stewards after the event it was discovered that the front subframe of the Frenchman’s Citroën C3 Rally2 had a weight of 12.95 kilos, while the maximum weight allowed, tolerance included, is 12,857 kilograms. Citroën has confirmed this point by ensuring that up to three of its subframes did not meet the weight and that they had not been verified because the heavy control piece in Italy did comply with the regulations, understanding that all the spare parts had been weighed in the same term by the external supplier.
