Xiaomi, the major Chinese manufacturer of smart mobile phones, plans to start mass production of electric vehicles in 2024. The technology company will enter the automotive industry to become a relevant player in the transition to all-electric mobility.
One of the technological giants has decided to become a relevant player in the automotive industry and, more specifically, in fully electric mobility. Xiaomi, the well-known Chinese manufacturer of smart mobile phones, has confirmed its entry into the electric vehicle sector. An uncompromising bet that will start your adventure in just a few years.
Xiaomi will start mass production of electric cars in 2024. More specifically in the first half of that year. This has been pointed out by a company spokesperson, citing statements by Lei Jun himself, Xiaomi CEO. This extremely important information was released at an event for investors and in which new details were also provided to local media.
Xiaomi’s big investment to be an electric car manufacturer
Zang Ziyuan, Director of Xiaomi’s International Marketing Department, also confirmed this information through his official Weibo social network account. Now in order for Xiaomi to carry out mass production of electric vehicles, it will be necessary to allocate a large economic investment.
The aforementioned date marks the next big goal for the company’s fledgling electric vehicle division, which Xiaomi formally announced earlier this year. What’s more, last March Xiaomi confirmed that it will make an investment of 10 billion dollars over a decade to be able to enter the automotive industry through the front door.
Months later, specifically at the end of August, Xiaomi completed the commercial registration of its new unit. A unit for which the recruitment process has already started. All preparations are underway to be able to start up all the machinery as soon as possible.
Xiaomi’s first electric car
Xiaomi will not be alone in this adventure. And it is that it will resort to the help / collaboration of one of the main Chinese vehicle manufacturers. The chosen ally has been none other than Great Wall, a company that owns such important car brands as Wey, Haval and Tank. For now there are quite a few unknowns about the way in which the projects will be tackled. It is expected that the Xiaomi’s first electric car burst onto the scene between 2023 and 2025.
