A mobile that changes color? As reported by Gizmochina, one of Weibo’s best-known insiders and leakers, Digital Chat Station, has released this information.
Apparently, Xiaomi is working on different device tests where the rear panel has photochromic properties or it is capable of changing color by low power energetic or electrochromic induction.
A Xiaomi capable of changing the color of its design
The terminal in question does not have a name or designation, since currently it would be a mere prototyping to check how it fits aesthetically with a possible future smartphone.
This is not an exclusive Xiaomi innovation. For example, the new OPPO Reno6 Pro has a rear that when stimulated by a voltage change also changes the color of the glass case, going silver to red and vice versa.
The VIVO S10 also changes color through the reflection of ultraviolet light: exposed to the sun, the terminal darkens its tones sky blue and orange to a much darker blue. A photochromic effect that Wikipedia sums up like this:
“A reversible transformation of a chemical species between two states A and B, which have different absorption spectra. This transformation is induced in one or both directions by electromagnetic radiation. The reverse reaction can be induced by electromagnetic radiation and / or heat. “
Other terminals such as the Narzo 30 Pro or similar opt for metallic or polycarbonate finishes that change color according to the wavelength of the incident light.
