For the second time, Hotel Xcaret will celebrate Independence Day in a unique way that will honor traditional Mexican gastronomy like never before. With 32 cooks, one for each state of the Republic, they will promote the most representative dishes of our country in the Xpiral Pyramid.
Of course, the celebration would not be complete without the musicalization of mariachi groups, son jarocho, huapango and other styles.
The flavor of the patriotic celebration of Xcaret will be complemented with a concert by the reggae and alternative musician, Oscar Alfonso Castro Valenzuela, better known as caloncho. During 50 minutes of musical performance, attendees will be able to chant and dance to songs such as Optimista, Palmar, Somos Instantes and Brillo Mío, in the halls of the Hotel Xcaret México.
Lorena Zahoul, director of Hotel Xcaret México, declared regarding this great celebration:
“We are honored to bring together all the flavors of Mexican gastronomy, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and thus celebrate the cultural richness of our country on such an important date as September 15. With this event we also seek to promote gender equality by recognizing the work and career of 32 women in the gastronomic industry and with this, promoting their economic development. We thank each one of them because we are sure that from the moment they are ripe, they will transport us to their states of origin, as well as Caloncho for giving our celebration a musical touch”.
The 32 cooks are safeguards of Mexico’s culinary heritage
The participation of the 32 traditional cooks is of the utmost importance, since they are the ones in charge of transmitting and perpetuating, generation after generation, the recipes that make Mexican gastronomy unique, one of the most recognized and loved in the world. They are recognized in their towns for the mastery with which they prepare the iconic dishes of traditional cuisine.
Some of them, in addition to representing their legacy in different national and international gastronomic events, give workshops, promote native ingredients, have contributed to the creation of culinary books and have even obtained awards and distinctions for their work in gastronomy.
In this way, Xcaret invites visitors to live a very Mexican-style night, combining gastronomy and music.
