The official list of A Plague Tale: Requiem on the Xbox store seems to indicate that the sequel will be released in June 2022. Developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Entertainment revealed the sequel to Plague Tale during E3 2021, heralding the next chapter in Amicia and Hugo’s journey. The two companies followed up this reveal several months later with the first look at gameplay at the 2021 Game Awards.
Although neither trailer revealed many concrete details, both ended with the confirmation of a 2022 release window. A Plague Tale: Requiem offers some clues to Amicia’s fate. For example, the lines of dialogue that the protagonist shares with her friend Lucas suggest that she might also succumb to the curse of the macula, the same disease that affects her younger brother, Hugo.
Now, a Twitter user discovered a release date attached to A Plague Tale: Requiem on the Xbox store page. However, there seems to be a mistake, as the listing in question suggests that the Asobo-developed sequel will be released on June 17, “2021”. Of course, it is possible that the date of June 17, not yet confirmed, is correct, especially since that day falls on a Friday. It’s also likely that the 2021 part is a simple bug that will be corrected over time.
Given Xbox’s history of prematurely sharing precise release dates, A Plague Tale: Requiem could arrive this summer in mid-June. However, those looking forward to this adventure set in the 14th century should take the above information with a grain of salt. Neither Asobo Studio nor Focus Entertainment have officially confirmed the sequel’s release date.
