In a new interview with the New York Times, Mike Spencer, head of investor relations at Xbox, said that supplies of new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S units will still be very few for some time, at least until June 2021.
This is a step beyond what Microsoft CFO Amy Hood said earlier this week, believing the console shortage will continue until April 2021. Both of these comments confirm a recent statement from AMD CEO Lisa Su . on the expected shortage of consoles. Last week, Su said he expects some tension in the first six months of the year regarding buying a new Xbox Series X/S or PS5.
This news shouldn’t be a big surprise, but more of a disappointment, for those who want to buy a new next-gen console but can’t get it. As stocks of all three consoles sold out almost instantly during the weeks of launch in November 2020, units have been increasingly difficult to find, with stocks appearing intermittently on various reseller websites.
