It is well known that historically Xbox has been a failure in Japan, because in this region Nintendo is the number 1 video game company, followed by Sony with PlayStation. For many years Microsoft’s presence in the region was minimal, but lately they have tried to turn things around and sales of Xbox Series X|S they reflect it.
A few days ago, Famitsu published its report on video game sales in Japan from June 27 to July 3, revealing that the Xbox Series X|S reached 260,504 consoles sold, more than double that of the Xbox one with its 114,831 consoles sold. However, the console falls far short of the PS5 and its more than 1.7 million consoles sold to date.

It was in November of last year that the Xbox Series X | S managed to outsell the Xbox One in Japan, just a year after its launch, which shows that Microsoft started this generation with a better plan for the region. Since then we have seen that Xbox has more and more presence in the region, especially trying to promote Xbox Game Pass.
In May of this year, the Xbox Series X | S managed to surpass the PlayStation 5 in sales, for the first time since its launch, although this is due to the scarcity of new generation consoles and not to a greater popularity on the part of Microsoft over Sony. At the end of June, the Xbox Series X | S once again surpassed the PS5 in Japan.
