Samuel L. Jackson is without a doubt one of the most in-demand stars in Hollywood, but would he work in a DC Comics movie?
It is known by fans that Samuel L. Jackson is a passionate reader of comics, for him playing characters like Mace Windu or Nick Fury was a dream come true. The actor made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the post-credits scene of Iron Man in 2008, and has been a mainstay of the MCU ever since. Between his appearances as the former director of SHIELD, the actor has gone on to star in a wide variety of projects, but would he ever consider making the jump to a DC Comics project?
The Secret Invasion star chats with Josh Horowitz for the podcast Happy Sad Confusedand was asked about this question.
“I don’t know if I’m going to read a DC script that will make me go, ‘yeah, this is great!’ because you expect things to happen, because…look at her, I’m a comic book fanatic. I’ve been reading comics forever, [pero] I don’t know what’s up with [DC] cinematographically”.
Jackson admitted that he actually preferred DC to Marvel growing up, but his response indicates that he may not be the biggest fan of Warner Bros. theatrical adaptations. Horowitz suggested to the actor that this might be because Marvel Studios has a better understanding of the shared formula of “cinematic universe”to which Jackson replied: “Sometimes. Most of the time… most of the time.”
Over the years we’ve seen actors immerse themselves in both the Marvel Universe and the DCEU, but it can feel a little strange to see Samuel L. Jackson appear in a DC movie after having been an integral part of the DCEU. UCM for so many years, but you never know.
Would you like to see playing Samuel L. Jackson a role in the DCEU? And which one?
