Scientists from the University of Insubria, in Italy, remain on alert by a worrying sign at the South Pole, a message that nature is giving that may mean that the end of the world is coming.
According to what was quoted in the report published on the website of Weekthe experts detected changes in the flora and fauna of that area of the Earth, product of temperature rise.
The South Pole is one of the least explored places on our planet, which is precisely why the scientific community closely follows what happens there, especially due to the temperatures and physical appearance of Antarctica, objects of study to understand the effects of climate change.
The main concern of specialists is due to the fact that, for 50 yearshave studied two of the few plants that grow in the aforementioned area of the world and that, in recent months, have seen their expansion accelerate. They are called Deschampsia antarctica and Colobanthus quitensis.
Its flowering is not a good omen
While it may seem that the fact that these plants grow, their growth seems faster than in recent decades, which means that the temperature in this area starts to rise rapidlyspecifically on Signy Island.
Scientists claim that the planet is reaching a tipping point from which it will not be able to pass and that global warming will lead us to the end of the world.
Another reason for the expansion of the plants has to do with the disappearance of sea lions, which, as a result of indiscriminate hunting and climate change itself, are now an endangered species.
The experts conclude that if the Antarctic landscape and biodiversity continue to change so rapidly, we must accept this warning that the end of the world as we know it is coming.
