He Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced a new mega-project and it is the New Central Highway, an alternative road to the always chaotic and congested road that interconnects the capital Lima with the cities of central Peru. The MTC reported that the megaproject has the final file of the technical profile approved to start the next stage, that is, its construction. Read on for all the information.
The authorities have already announced that the new Daniel Alcides Carrión Central Highway will be the first mountain highway in Peru that will link the coast with the mountains. The next step, after the approval of the final file of the profile review, is the preparation of the Final Engineering Study (EDI), that is, the final technical file prior to its next construction.
New Central Highway: when the work starts and what is its cost
It is one of the most frequently asked questions and the Peruvian authorities have anticipated that the work would be running by the year 2025 and its cost would be around S/11,500 million soles.
New Central Highway: through which regions will the road pass?
The new Daniel Alcides Carrión Central Highway will unite 10 regions, including:
- Junin
- Pasco
- ayacucho
- Huanuco
- apurimac
- huancavelica
- Cusco
- San Martin
- ucayali
They will also be interconnected in the following way:
- Lima province: Cieneguilla and Huaycan
- Yauli Province: Pachacaca and Santa Rosa de Sacco
- Huarochiri Province: Cuenca, San Andrés de Tupicocha, Yuramacyo, San Damian, Santiago de Tuna, San Mateo and Yuramacyo.
New Central Highway: Why it will be better than the previous road
The New Central Highway will undoubtedly be better than its predecessor as it will be 185 kilometers long and will have 30 tunnels, 4 lanes, as well as rest and service areas. In addition, this new road will have retaining walls and 19 kilometers of viaducts.
