There is no doubt that there are very strange people on this planet. Each mind is a world and it is difficult to fully understand why someone acts in a certain way and why he does what he does. Most of the time we don’t need to wonder why people are doing things, but sometimes we find out about things so, so crazy that it’s impossible not to question the reasoning behind them.
A perfect case of the latter is that of a Spanish woman who claims that she owns the sun and, what is even stranger, wants to charge for using it.
Meet the owner of the Sun
María Ángeles Durán affirms that the sun, you know, the star that shines on us every day and for which life is possible, has been her property since 2012, for which she wants to receive a payment in exchange for the world using it . It is not the first time that she seeks to profit from the sun, since she previously decided to divide it up and sell land of the celestial body on eBay, but her account was suspended.
María Ángeles, who works as a judicial expert and is a highly educated woman, has a notarial act that testifies that she has been the owner of the sun since 2012. The act dictates that María Ángeles is:
Owner of the sun, star of spectral type G2, which is located in the center of the Solar System, located at an average distance from Earth of approximately 149,600,000 kilometers.
The idea of claiming the sun came to him when he heard about an American man who did the same thing, but with the moon. Doing some research, she realized that the star had no owner – obviously – and decided that she was a perfect candidate to be the owner of the huge star. By presenting her case before a Spanish court, the authorities “granted” her ownership of the sun.
María Ángeles assures that she does not intend to profit from the star, since her plan is to donate the money she receives in the following way: half would go to the Spanish government, 20 percent to a pension fund, 10 percent to research, 10 percent to end world hunger and the remaining 10 percent she would keep.
However, being the owner of the sun has not been easy, since it has been sued by people who were affected by UV radiation, but the lawsuits did not proceed because the sun’s rays would not harm anyone if the ozone layer was intact, and that is not the fault of María Ángeles.
It has various properties
The sun is not the only unusual property of this woman, because she also owns “the longest score in the world” and is seeking to be the owner of the “Tarzan scream”.
It doesn’t explain very well how or who it intends to charge for “using” the sun, but we’ll wait for further updates on this bizarre case.
