goodbye of a saga
The 44-year-old actress said a few months ago that participating in sagas like Marvel’s stagnated her career in a certain way.
“I feel like for the last 10 years of my life, I’ve been stuck. I felt trapped doing these franchises.”
“I am so grateful for the opportunities they provided, from collaborating with amazing directors and meeting cast members I consider friends and playing a role that fans, especially kids, love,” she continued. “But it also meant that I felt artistically trapped in my craft from not being able to expand, grow or challenge myself by playing different types of genres and different roles,” she said.
By creating controversy with that statement, the actress clarified that at no time did she feel any kind of inconvenience with Marvel.
“I would love to set the record straight,” he said in an interview with Deadline. “I feel grateful and like the luckiest girl in this town knowing that I was invited to join films with special directors in a special cast. And they resonated with people so much that we had the opportunity to come back and come back at another time. If anything, I’ve reaped all the benefits of that, I’ve gained friends. I still have mentors that I call on and lean on.”
Saldaña is part of the franchises, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek.
