IMPORTANT: The latest updates to the Windows Insider Dev and Beta Channels have brought a major bug that causes the Taskbar and Start Menu to disappear for some users. Microsoft has already published a solution for this problem, which we have translated and published in this link.
As many of you know, the launch of Windows 11 is imminent. This will take place on October 5 and, as a result, the builds of the Windows Insider Beta Channel increasingly include less news and bug fixes because we are looking for a release version that is as polished as possible. Whoever wants news, should look at the Dev Channel, which this week has made the leap to Build 22449.
Thus, the Beta Channel this week has received Build 22000.176 with a small list of corrections and news. Let’s go with them!
Changes and improvements
People want to be closer to what they love. This is the reason why commonly used experiences such as Search, Task View, Widgets, and Chat are pinned to the Windows Taskbar 11. To manage which of these icons are pinned to the bar, just right-click in it and click on the option “Taskbar Configuration”. There you can choose which icons you want to show and which ones you don’t.
Corrections
general
- Fixed a bug where Insiders with paired Bluetooth LE devices had Bluetooth reliability issues and bugchecks after resuming from hibernation or when Bluetooth was turned off.
- Fixed an issue where some users would experience an error when trying to take photos with some USB cameras.
- Added a link to learn more about Windows Hello when configuring it in the OOBE.
Microsoft Teams Chat
- The Arabic and Hebrew languages now allow you to change Teams settings.
- Fixed an issue where if you were making an outgoing call there was no tone but the UI would show that the call was connecting.
Microsoft Store
- Fixed an issue where the install button might not work in certain scenarios.
- Fixed a bug that caused reviews and ratings to be unavailable in certain apps.
Known bugs
general
- Work is in progress to correct an issue that causes some Surface Pro Xs to throw a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR error.
Beginning
- In some cases, you won’t be able to enter text when using Start Search on the Taskbar. If this happens to you, press WIN + R to open the Run dialog and then close it.
- System and Windows Terminal do not appear when right-clicking the Start button (WIN + X).
Taskbar
- The taskbar will sometimes flicker when switching between different input methods.
Search
- After clicking the Search icon on the taskbar, the Search panel may not open. If this happens, restart the process of the “Windows Explorer” and reopen the search panel.
- The search panel may appear black and not display any content below the search box.
Widgets
- The widget board may appear empty. To avoid the problem, we can log out and then log in again.
- Widgets may be displayed in the wrong size on external monitors. If you run into this problem, you can start the widgets through the button or through WIN + W and then starting it on secondary monitors.
Microsoft Store
- Work continues to improve the relevance of searches in the Store.
Windows Sandbox
- In Windows Sandbox, the language input selector does not start after clicking the icon on the taskbar. As a workaround, users can change their input language via any of the following hardware keyboard shortcuts: Alt + Shift, Ctrl + Shift, or Win + Space (the third option is only available if sandbox is full screen ).
Location
- There is an issue where some users may see some translations missing. This happens for a small subset of languages running the latest Insider Preview builds. To confirm if you have been affected, visit this post in the answers forum and follow steps for correction.
