Again a month ends and we have to talk about the AdDuplex data. This time we see another small increase in the number of users making the jump to the Windows 10 October 2020 Update, perhaps less than expected. The latest build of Windows 10 already has 20% of users, a slight increase over the last month.
Actually, if we are fair, it has not exceeded 20% because it is just in this percentage. As you already know, the AdDuplex data is based on a small sample of Windows 10 devices (80 thousand devices). The positive part of this reading is that if we add the last two versions of Windows 10 they reach a 61.8% share.
Having extended the support period for COVID19, Windows 10 October 2019 Update users have not made the leap to the new version of Windows 10. Normally Microsoft had decided that these users would be offered to update to the latest version of Windows 10, giving them one year to update.
As can be seen in this second graph, a clear inclination can be perceived in the last curves, implying a slower deployment when updating. This is not a problem right now but it could be in the long run. We will see if the Redmond giant can correct this situation in the coming months.
Be that as it may, you cannot talk about fragmentation within Windows 10. It is a slower deployment but we should not consider it a problem yet. Typically, Microsoft always manages to maintain the same percentages over time. This time we do not have information about Surface devices within AdDuplex, which implies that there are no major changes compared to previous reports. We will see if more users are incorporated during the month of March and the 25 or 30% quota is reached.
