We continue to speak, punctually, about the versions of the operating system and its user quota. Specifically, we focus on 20H2. The latest version of Windows 10 continues to grow in market share within AdDuplex. Little by little it is convincing more users and, in the last month it has risen by 3% to reach a 16.8% share of use
Windows 10 20H2 is already on 16.8% of computers
“[Windows 10 version 20H2] adds about another 3 percent to its market share and is on 16.8 percent of PCs at the end of January,” AdDuplex explains in the report, which is based on a survey of almost 80,000 computers with Windows 10.
It should be noted that this time the increase in users has been reduced by making the leap to the latest version of Windows 10. Last month we were talking about 5% and this month it has dropped to 3%.
This decline is probably related to some hardware crash by Microsoft. We should not be alarmed or surprised, gradually more users will join the latest version of Windows 10. It seems that Microsoft has made the right change in strategy by not offering two major updates a year.
As such, Microsoft is focusing on one major feature update and the second is shipped as cumulative. In this way, users are encouraged to update their equipment, not worrying about having to wait a long period of time until they update.
The pandemic has also affected updates. Microsoft had announced dates to end the support of certain versions of Windows 10. However, as a result of the pandemic, they indicated that they would extend the times to offer the best support. This has meant that many users are not forced to update or that their team suggests it.
