With such a successful franchise in full expansion, today the next step would also be to conquer the small screen. Disney was very clear about it with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which due to its jump to television, was able to launch a total of eight shows between 2021 and 2022. And Star Wars, a brand also belonging to the House of Mouse, even currently enjoys of a brighter future in streaming than in theaters So will the day come when Avatar and the world of Pandora decide to join this party and join the format of television series?

Well, James Cameron considers that it is too early to think about that. And not so much because he is sick of the streaming. Actually, the director of Avatar: The Path of Water he is very practical and knows that it would be absurd to try to produce Disney Plus original series with the expensive technology required for the digital construction of the Na’vi. The House of Mouse would simply never agree to invest so many millions in a television project.

On the other hand, as stated in a recent interview with Los Angeles TimesCameron (apparently) would not take a dim view of wearing Avatar to the small screen once technological advances allow us to depend on lower budgets.

“Right now, financially speaking, it doesn’t make sense to move any of our main CGI characters to television,” he said. “But the cost of these things will progressively come down as we introduce deep machine learning into processes and make them more automated. Ask me in five years.”

It should be noted that Avatar: The Path of Waterwith an approximate cost of $350 million dollars, is considered the fourth most expensive film in history.
