Since last weekend, Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) has made headlines pointing to him as the director of an upcoming film live action based on gargoylesthe popular 90s animated series.
On the other hand, greg weismanproducer of the original show, spoke on Twitter this Monday to comment on the veracity of the note… And in his opinion, they are pure fake news. One of his followers asked him what he thought of the rumor that Kenneth Branagh was signed to direct a film adaptation of gargoyles. To which Weisman replied: «I think… that is flatly false».
The original report came from The Belfast Telegraph, a daily from the capital city of Northern Ireland, where Branagh hails from. Curiously, no further details were given in this regard, nor was it clarified where the information came from.
Voices from The Eyriea podcast about the series gargoyles with Greg Weisman, also reacted negatively to the rumor via Twitter (via):
“The one reporting this is a fake news website clickbait, and people are spreading that link like spreading fire. No one else is reporting it; the source they cite doesn’t really say that. It’s not real”.
gargoyles originally aired from 1994 to 1997, produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. The show revolves around some fantastic creatures of the same name who awaken in the 90s, after spending thousands of years in a state of petrification. Now, though they turn back to stone by day, by night they become New York City’s secret protectors.
From the animated television program, video games and comics later emerged that reinforced its status as a cult series. However, to date there is still no film, despite the fact that there is an intention to do it from the very beginning of the franchise. In 2018, it was even reported that Jordan Peele (Nope!) had an adaptation proposal that ultimately did not have the support of Disney.
From director Kenneth Branagh, the film Hunting in Venice —third installment of the modern film saga about the adventures of detective Hercule Poirot— will be released in Mexican theaters on September 14, 2023. Antonio G. Spindola I have very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
