In the comics, Namor shares with the X-Men his membership in that subspecies of human beings who are born with some superhuman ability. However, due to the obvious creative license screenwriter/director Ryan Coogler took to integrate the character into the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it is reasonable that there are doubts as to whether its nature will be similarly altered. Fortunately, Tenoch Huertainterpreter of Namor in the aforementioned tape, has already come out to clarify whether or not he will be a mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This week, Empire released a new official image of the Mexican actor characterized as Namor, in addition to some new statements from him. Among them, Tenoch Huerta’s revelation that his character “he is indeed a mutant”.
The previous confirmation happens two months after the final episode of the series Ms Marvel It would mark the franchise’s first concise allusion to the presence of mutants in its fictional universe. Obviously, the greatest expectation that arises from this discovery goes towards the long-awaited debut of the X-Men in the MCU. That is, that famous group of superheroes that includes the unforgettable Wolverine, Storm and Cyclops, among others. However, Marvel Studios is still keeping its plans under water when it comes to Charles Xavier’s mutants.
Meanwhile, the House of Ideas has chosen to talk about mutations by the dropper, now with the guarantee that Namor will show that characteristic in the sequel to Black Panther. Likewise, Ryan Coogler assured Empire that said character turns out to be “a dream antagonist.”

In Wakanda ForeverNamor is not ruler of Atlantis —according to the comics— but of Talocan, an underwater kingdom inspired by Mesoamerican cultures, particularly the Mayan. For Tenoch Huerta, there were two options: “You can take Atlantis from Greek mythology, or you can adapt a real culture.” And the director —in complicity with the creatives and directors of Marvel— decided to lean towards the second possibility, in order to distinguish himself from DC Comics’ Aquaman, but also to resort to Latin American talent.
On the motivations of his character, Huerta also commented to Empire that the rivalry between Talocan and Wakanda stems from T’Challa’s decision—in the original film—to reveal his nation’s existence to the world. “That decision puts Talocan in danger,” said the actor. “And Talocan has to take steps to protect himself.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever It will arrive in Mexican theaters on November 10, 2022. Are you excited?
Antonio G. Spindola I have very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
